Product Overview

The ZWT201 Cable Fault Testing System consists of four core components: the Cable Fault Tester (TDR), Aesthetic & Electromagnetic Synchronous Fault Locator, Cable Path Tester, and an intelligent Surge Voltage Generator.

This complete package allows field engineers to locate cable paths, measure depths, pre-locate fault distances, and execute precise acoustic pinpointing for fast and decisive underground repairs.

Key Functions & Features:

1. Advanced Multiple-Pulse Method: Continuously captures and superimposes 8 true waveforms via Time Domain Reflectometry (TDR), simplifying complex high-resistance fault waveforms into easy-to-read low-voltage short-circuit curves.

2. Extreme Testing Range: Pre-locates cable faults up to 60km away with an exceptional 1m resolution and accuracy.

3. Accurate Cable Path Tracing: The Path Tester supports direct-connection, coupling, and induction methods. Uses Traverse, Classic Compass, and Sweep modes to provide a 360° all-around routing and depth indication (up to 20m depth).

4. Acoustic & Electromagnetic Sync Pinpointing: The pinpointing receiver rejects over 40dB of power frequency noise. It clearly syncs acoustic seismic waves with electromagnetic pulses to find precise fault locations in noisy environments.

5. Intelligent 32kV Surge Generation: The surge generator delivers 0 to -32kV negative DC high voltage (up to 2048J energy). It features programmable pulse periods, automatic voltage stabilization, built-in discharge, and one-button emergency stop.

6. Cable ID & Low-Resistance Locating: The Path Tester can actively identify up to 20 cables (dead or live). Equipped with an A-frame (step-voltage method), it instantly outputs left/right directional arrows to zero in on low-resistance points.

7. User-Friendly Touch UI: All components feature industrial-grade color LCD touch screens (up to 8.0 inches) with intuitive graphical representations and robust built-in lithium batteries for over 4 to 12 hours of field operation.

Yes. High-resistance and flash-over faults are typically the hardest to locate. By using the system’s Multiple-Pulse TDR method in conjunction with the 32kV Surge Generator, complex high-resistance faults are converted into simple, readable short-circuit waveforms.

Operator safety is prioritized. The Surge Generator is fully integrated into a rugged chassis with no exposed high-voltage components. It features software-controlled automatic voltage boosting, a one-button emergency stop, and an automatic capacitor discharge function that safely removes residual power within 3 seconds of stopping.

Yes. Using the flexible coupling clamp method, the Path Tester Receiver can actively identify and trace up to 20 grouped cables, regardless of whether they are in a dead (power failure) or live state.

Underneath the ground, cable sparks (from the surge generator) create both an electromagnetic pulse and an acoustic ‘thump’. The ZWT201 Locator receives both signals. Because electromagnetic waves travel faster than sound, the device measures the time delay between the two to give you a precise digital distance to the exact fault spot above ground.
