AC Resonant Test System Series
The ZW Series Variable Frequency AC Resonant Test System generates high test voltages using minimum power capacity.
It provides pure sine wave output for safe, precise, and damage-free dielectric withstand testing of XLPE cables, GIS, and power transformers up to 800kV.
Product Overview
The ZW Series AC Resonant Test System is a state-of-the-art diagnostic testing solution designed for primary electrical equipment.
By utilizing variable frequency control (30–300Hz), the system adjusts the output frequency to match the natural resonance point between the testing reactor and the capacitive test object.
This allows the system to generate massive test voltages and high currents while requiring merely a fraction of the power capacity, making it the ideal on-site testing tool for power cables, GIS, and transformers.
Functions and Value:
1. Drastically Reduced Size and Weight: Requires only 1/Q of the test capacity, drastically reducing equipment volume and weight by up to 90% for easy transport.
2. Superior Output Waveform: Thoroughly filters out harmonic distortions, delivering a pure, standard sinusoidal waveform to prevent accidental insulation breakdown.
3. Fail-Safe Breakdown Protection: Instantly disrupts the resonant condition during an insulation failure, extinguishing the arc immediately to protect the fault point.
4. Intelligent Sweep and Tuning: Uses a DSP platform for automatic frequency sweeping, accurately displaying the tuning curve directly on the touchscreen.
5. Flexible Operation Modes: Supports Fully Automatic, Manual, and Auto-Tuning with Manual Boost modes to adapt to complex on-site conditions.
6. Comprehensive Safety Mechanisms: Integrates highly responsive zero-start, over-voltage, over-current, and detuning (flash-over) protections.

Frequently Asked Questions
Contact our engineers for technical support and application guidance.
To configure the precise reactor quantity and power source, please inform us of your test object type (e.g., XLPE cable, GIS, transformer), the target test voltage (kV), the test duration (min), and the maximum capacitance or length of the object (e.g., cable length in km and cross-section in mm²).
In a series resonant circuit, if the test object’s insulation breaks down, the capacitance changes instantly, which destroys the resonance condition. The high voltage disappears immediately, and the short-circuit current drops to a minimum, preventing the electrical arc from severely burning the fault location.
Yes, the equipment is widely applied for the AC withstand voltage testing of power transformers. However, different capacities and reactor combinations are required compared to cable testing, which is why modular setups are highly recommended.
Yes, the control unit features built-in storage to record all test parameters and flash-over values. Users can easily query historical data numbering on the screen or export reports directly via the integrated USB port to a flash drive.
